Beside contribution to the national economy, Mr. Dhakal-led IME has been equally active in philanthropy building a solid foundation for education and elementary healthcare specially for economically underprivileged children from around the country through IME Foundation, a CSR initiative. Despite the havoc and panic situation caused by the pandemic (COVID 19), IME Foundation stood at the frontline in offering humanitarian services within and outside the country. During the first outbreak of COVID, IME launched “Bharosa Kosh” in order to support bereaved Nepali families of the migrant workers who lost their lives from COVID-19 in the foreign land, and provided Rs. 58,000/- per family as an effort of extending healing companion to their grief. After the dreadful hit of second wave of COVID-19, the foundation set up an Oxygen Plant worth about Rs. 1,28,00,000/- at Shukraraj Infectious Diseases Hospital, Teku, Kathmandu and provided Oxygen concentrators and other health equipment to the government. He was also awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the Republic of Indonesia appreciating his contribution to the rescue and relief efforts during the earthquake in 2015.
